Biosearch Technologies recently launched a video, Making of the Swine Flu Test Kit - Inside Biosearch Technologies, which had debuted last week at qPCR Symposium 2009 held in Millbrae, California. This video is an accurate re-enactment of Biosearch Technologies' rapid production of the H1N1 (Swine Flu) test kit that was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Biosearch created this video because we wanted to show the world that a small company such as ourselves was able to contribute to battling against the worldwide outbreak of the swine flu. We were proud to be at the forefront of enabling genetic testing during a pandemic, a testing method that was not often used in past similar events.
Producing the video was a fun, collaborative project done internally at Biosearch. It gave us Biosearchers a chance to let our inner thespians shine. We first started with a small group of Biosearchers from various departments and teamed up to help draft a script. We cast the video with actual Biosearch employees, collected props, and staged all the necessary materials that we had used in April during the initial production of the swine flu test kits. With much preparation, we were able to film all the video content we needed in only a day and a half. The film was edited and finalized within a week. It was a nice break from our day-to day-tasks when we were filming ourselves at work and it made everyone feel appreciated for his or her hard work at Biosearch.
If you haven't seen the video already, you can view it at Biosearch's website: http://www.biosearchtech.com/support/videos/making-of-the-swine-flu-test-kit-inside-biosearch-technologies-video
