Biosearch Technologies has received a complaint for alleged patent infringement filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on September 18, 2009, by Life Technologies Corp. and Applied Biosystems, LLC.
As a company that prides itself on developing and safeguarding innovative technology in its own right, Biosearch has always been, and continues to be, respectful of the intellectual property of others. Biosearch is also protective and mindful of its own intellectual property rights and proprietary product lines. Biosearch does not believe there is any merit to the claims made by Life Technologies Corp. or Applied Biosystems, LLC, and will defend itself vigorously against these charges. Biosearch President and CEO, Ron Cook, comments, "Biosearch has been making and selling dual labeled quencher probes since 1998 so this is territory we know quite well. We are confident that the lawsuit is baseless and will aggressively defend our technology and our company."
Biosearch sees no impact on the supply of its products to customers as a result of this action.
