We are pleased to introduce ValuPanel Reagents, a new product line of mission-critical probe and primer sets that discriminate different strains of pathogens. This product line culminated from our successful collaboration with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention* (CDC) in response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. As of now, ValuPanel Reagents are available for both 2009 H1N1 and seasonal Influenza A subtyping.
*CDC does not endorse products or services.
The Details:
Probes are labeled with FAM and BHQ® dyes and all probes and primers are HPLC purified. ValuPanel Reagents are available with same day shipping via FedEx Priority for all orders placed before 2 PM (PST). ValuPanel Reagents are for Research Use Only (RUO) and currently resolve genetic signatures specific to the following viruses and subtypes:
2009 H1N1
- InfA for the universal detection of influenza A
- swInfA for the specific detection of swine influenza A
- swH1 for the specific detection of swine influenza H1
- RNase P for a positive control
Influenza A Subtyping
- InfA - for the universal detection of influenza A
- H1 subtype of influenza A
- H3 subtype of influenza A
- H5a subtype of influenza A
- H5b subtype of influenza A
- InfB - for the universal detection of influenza B
- RNase P for a positive control
Probe pricing for ValuPanel Reagents start from $135.00 and provide 5 nmol delivered. Forward and reverse primers are each available for $14.00 and provide 20 nmol delivered.

Biosearch Technologies recently launched a video, Making of the Swine Flu Test Kit - Inside Biosearch Technologies, which had debuted last week at qPCR Symposium 2009 held in Millbrae, California. This video is an accurate re-enactment of Biosearch Technologies' rapid production of the H1N1 (Swine Flu) test kit that was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Biosearch created this video because we wanted to show the world that a small company such as ourselves was able to contribute to battling against the worldwide outbreak of the swine flu. We were proud to be at the forefront of enabling genetic testing during a pandemic, a testing method that was not often used in past similar events.
Producing the video was a fun, collaborative project done internally at Biosearch. It gave us Biosearchers a chance to let our inner thespians shine. We first started with a small group of Biosearchers from various departments and teamed up to help draft a script. We cast the video with actual Biosearch employees, collected props, and staged all the necessary materials that we had used in April during the initial production of the swine flu test kits. With much preparation, we were able to film all the video content we needed in only a day and a half. The film was edited and finalized within a week. It was a nice break from our day-to day-tasks when we were filming ourselves at work and it made everyone feel appreciated for his or her hard work at Biosearch.
If you haven't seen the video already, you can view it at Biosearch's website: http://www.biosearchtech.com/support/videos/making-of-the-swine-flu-test-kit-inside-biosearch-technologies-video
Hope you enjoy it!

Biosearch Technologies announced today that the company has licensed from the CDC the novel H1N1 Influenza signatures along with the Influenza A sub-typing panel signatures. This licensing agreement with the CDC makes Biosearch Technologies the first oligo manufacturer to have the right to manufacture and sell dual-labeled probes and primers bearing the H1N1 and Influenza A sub-typing signatures.
